Hayley Cartwright
Karen Baney was my GCSE English teacher 20 years ago. I’m sure it was her encouragement and enthusiasm that were key in me discovering my love of the subject. She always made lessons fun, engaging and helped improve my confidence. I made great progress over the 2 years, attaining 2 A grades in my GCSEs. This spurred me on to take the subject at A level and then on to read English language and Literature at university. Today, I write scripts for television for a living... a career I adore and only possible because Karen laid the foundations.
Her teaching is the reason I took English at A-Level and then on to university. It shaped the course of my life!
